Streaming
The video mentions an interview I had during streaming's heyday. I remember it well. Such was my preparation that I even bought a tie matching the corporation's colours, pairing it with a white shirt and shit-eating grin.
I raised streaming and did my Kevin Spacey bit. It was the only part of the interview where I felt the mood shift a little. And this is before Kev got exposed for playing grab ass, so it must've been the streaming point that soured things.
As I descended the elegant elevator and walked out onto the street – as a nobody again - I looked up at the building. It struck me how much power these corporations had. Their control over 'scheduling' was just a euphemism for directing the masses toward whatever they wanted us to watch.
I thought then that this was all a house of cards. It felt like Netflix was about to disrupt everything, taking power away from these people in a way they were still struggling to understand. Innovation had happened and the power was flowing to us, the consumer.
The video is about how I was dead wrong. Smart corporations adapt. Turns out they also don't hire people like me. Like I said – they’re smart.
